Hello friend and welcome to "The Art of Perfect Pairings", a series that explores creative ways of combining my prints and fine artwork with wall colors, frame styles, gallery layouts, and more. I hope to lend you some creative ideas and inspire you with easily achievable ways to make your home a visually inspiring refuge.
It's fun when you find that one special piece that speaks to you but when it comes to hanging it in your home, it can be challenging to know which location would suit it best, which wall colors it would shine against and what other pieces would compliment it and make it feel right at home.
This series of posts is designed to help you cut through that confusion and give you beautiful, attainable ways of designing with art.
Without further ado...
The theme of #2 is:
Emerald Green, Irish Heritage, Wanderlust
This Perfect Pairing is inspired by faraway travels to Ireland, where the landscape is verdant green and filled with ancient history. In these lands, castle ruins are abundant, dotting the countryside and clifftops. When the sun is shining, the light illuminates the hills so that the hilltops reflect bright chartreuse and the valleys glow a deep emerald.
These oil paintings were inspired by my personal travels to the country to connect with my Irish ancestry. I hope that these artworks feel like windows on your walls, begging you to stop for a moment and escape to another place filled with adventure and wonder!
The perfect pieces to celebrate your own Irish heritage and for the lovers of moody landscapes!

Wall Color
There are 3 different wall colors that I think would pair well with these art pieces: pale blue, sage green, and hunter green. Which one you choose will totally depend on the overall color scheme of your house, your decorating preferences and frame style.
Here are 2 tips that will help make this look shine in your home:
1.
If you prefer lighter colored walls...
then the pale blue paint color would be the way to go. This color choice is light enough to almost feel like a bright neutral while picking up the color tone of the sky in the paintings, making the look feel cohesive. I recommend a darker, bolder frame to help give these pieces presence and weight. A thin rim of metallic color around the inner opening of the frame helps make the artwork pop.
2.
If you prefer a bolder color choice for your walls...
then the sage and hunter green options are your best bet. These colors give off a cozy, warm feel that, when combined with the artwork and good old-fashioned wood-carved frame, will help give your home that "Irish pub" feel.
Below are a few different styling combinations to help you visualize these options, complete with links to specific paint colors and frames:

Pale Blue Walls + Dark, Bold Frame
Here is a great example of a light wall color that goes perfectly with these Ireland landscape artworks. The tone of the pale blue matches the color of the sky and mountains while still being light enough to be considered almost a neutral wall color.
I have found a few different paints available from Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines that I think would be a great match, depending on your preference and home lighting:
Cement Pots
"Soft cool gray"
Dark Moon
"Soft light gray with blue undertones"
Loft
"Light silver gray"
(Read below for info on frames.)

Sage Green Walls + Dark, Bold Frame
If you're looking for a slightly moodier combo, this sage green wall pairs great with the artwork too.
I have found a few different paints available from Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines that I think would be a great match, depending on your preference and home lighting:
Bespoke Green
"A dusty olive green"
Eden
"Pale ivy green"
Sage Stem
"Mid-tone sage green blended with earthy gray"
Lemon Leaves
"Dark and rich sage green"
(Read below for info on frames.)

Dark Green Walls + Metallic Frame
For an even moodier, bolder look, you could opt for a dark green wall. I personally love deeper green wall colors and have a few in my own home. There is something very calming, cozy, and inspiring about being surrounded by this color. Since the color is a much darker shade, I recommend pairing the artwork with a lighter, metallic frame as opposed to the darker wood color so that it stands out and "pops".
I recommend the following paint color by Benjamin Moore that I think would be a perfect match:

Style Roundup + Frames
Dark Frame
Antique style, espresso colored wood frame with gold liner
Light Metallic Frame
Champagne-gold, solid wood frame
Original Art & Art Prints
The artwork featured in this perfect pairing are available as BOTH framed, original oil paintings as well as limited edition, gallery-quality prints.
There are currently 2 framed, original paintings still available and are a perfect choice for those who want to own a really special piece that is ready to hang, instantly giving your home character. I spent many many hours on each of these special paintings and they are the only way to see the true texture of the brushstrokes and sheen of the paint. The limited edition, gallery quality prints are a great choice if you'd still like to collect one of these windows to Ireland with a more conservative budget. Each print comes with a white border that brings the outer dimensions to a standard frame size. They are hand numbered, titled, and signed on the front.
