Today, I wanted to share a little more of the story with you about how the upcoming collab between the The Impatient Gardener and I came to be.
I grew up with two grandmothers who had a passion for flowers and I was fortunate to be surrounded by gardens my whole life. One of them lived across the street from me and her garden was the backdrop of much of my childhood. I helped her plant her annual bedding and porch containers from when I was knee-high all the way through college when I would come back home for the summers. Then, about 5 years ago, my husband and I bought our first house and I knew immediately that the first project had to be putting in our very own garden. I got so much joy out of sharing pictures of what I was growing with both of my grandmothers.
Up until that point, my garden focused more on growing vegetables but I was ready to start expanding it to include ornamental flowers. It dawned on me that I could grow my own inspiration for my art right in my own garden. Then, unbelievably within the same year, we lost both of my grandmothers. Suffice it to say that the garden became a refuge for me and I poured myself into its development.
That's when I learned about Erin! It didn't take me long to discover her Blog and YouTube channel, The Impatient Gardener (and I think those of us who garden can all identify with that name). I was blown away by not only how abundant her garden was, but how expertly and artistically she paired plants together to create beautiful combinations of color and texture. I ended up discovering dozens of plant varieties that, as a newbie flower gardener, I didn't even know existed.
That's when a thought occurred to me; how cool would it be to capture and immortalize some of her best flowers into a painted "arrangement" of sorts? I reached out to her to see if she wanted to collaborate with me and she agreed!
In looking forward to the launch of the collection *next week*, I wanted to share with you the exact inspiration photos she sent to me from her garden that are featured in the painting!
