This week, I'm sharing the next timelapse video and archival print from my latest "Homegrown 2021" spring collection of artworks. It's "Through the Daffodil Leaves" and I think this one is one of my favorites! This was the first year that I planted bulbs on my property and it was such a thrill to watch them unfurl from the ground this spring. The Daffodils were the most dramatic and inspired me to create this whimsical take on the plant.
Check out how this piece was made from start to finish:
More About This Art Collection
"As the weather warmed and the bulbs and wildflowers bloomed, I would take my coffee and sketchbook outside and record their growth and special characteristics. Those sketches became the foundation for what these drawings would become. The lines and curves of the leaves reminded me of the art nouveau style, so that became an aesthetic that I leaned into and explored in these pieces. Delicate curves.. slightly whimsical.. my ode to the beauty of spring."
